After all who checks out the about us comments unless they either 1) want to learn more about the person so they can do business with that person or 2) they are a competitor trying to figure out what the heck we’re doing right.
So if you fall in category (1), let me tell you a bit about why you want to do business with us.
I am a third-generation furniture guy who has peddled furniture as a retailer, a rental store owner, a wholesale / distributor, and a factory representative for upholstery and case goods. I have the best job in the world working with people I like selling to retailer customers I like. Since 1964, Furniture Sales of Mid-America has built our solid reputation on selling value products to top retailers in the Midwest and Rocky Mountain Regions.
I graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a business degree in Accounting, and worked as a CPA before entering the furniture business. My furniture career has included several awards including the Small Business Administration’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year and the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce honor as one of the Top 25 Fastest Growing businesses in the state for three years in a row.
We also have been recognized by numerous national furniture factories for sales excellence including multiple Salesman of the Year awards. I currently serve on the Executive Committee of the International Home Furnishings Representative’s Association (IHFRA) as well as the CQRID Advisory Board of the Interior Design Society.
I write an online column for the national trade paper 'Furniture Today' called 'From a Rep’s Perspective'. I also write a series for the national furniture magazine “Furniture World” called New Media Marketing that shares multiple innovative marketing strategies retailers can use to grow their business in any economy. A major key to our success and how we can help you goes way beyond selling furniture. We help our retailers and factories by providing ideas on how to take the furniture we sell and get it sold through to the end consumer. We do that two ways. First, if you are a retailer who buys furniture from us, we tell you how to merchandise the product successfully. We don’t just write an order and say good-bye. Selling the retailer is the least troublesome part of the sale. We have to help the retailer position the product appropriately so the end consumer also wants to buy it. The furniture does no good to us or the retailer if it just sits on a store’s floor and so we help with marketing ideas. In fact I was honored as a finalist for Marketer of the Year of the internationally renowned Glazer-Kennedy Marketing Organization.
